As this was my last day in Paris I decided to get up very early (06:00).
This was my first photo
For anyone who was seen the beautiful film, Amelie, they should remember the scene where Amelie is skipping stones in the canal. This is where they filmed the scene, the Canal Saint-Martin, just around the corner from my hotel.
This was taken from a spot that overlooks Paris. You can just see the Eiffel Tower to the right of the picture and the huge La Defense building to the left. There were lots of Asians practising Tai-Chi whilst listening to music. This spot is called La Mer a Boire which seems to translate as 'rocket science'. Go figure.
Suppose your phone battery has run out (yes Anja, I'm talking to you!) then pop along to your local railway station which has free phone charging facilities. The only downside is you have to pedal to charge your phone! Hmmm, keep fit and charge your phone as well, seems like a great idea. (By the way, sorry about the builder's bum)
Now this is what I call busking! A classical ensemble group near the Louvre museum.
Most of the Amelie film I mentioned earlier where Amelie plays a waitress in this café was filmed here. I went in but it was packed so I didn't stay. The name means the café of the two windmills (The Moulin Rouge - The Red Windmill - is just around the corner)
This is the Arc De Triomphe situated in the middle of Paris's most famous roundabout. Our guide mentioned yesterday that this is where learner drivers are taken for their driving test. Makes you wonder how anyone in Paris passes their test. Mind you, given the number of bumps and scrapes I have seen here you start to wonder if anyone passed their driving test in Paris!
Leading down from the Arc de Triomphe this is the famous Champs-Elysees. If they take learner drivers on to this street it makes you think why any learner driver would want to drive in Paris.
